City & Guilds’ purpose is to tap into individual potential to help people develop the skills they need to succeed – the skills that help them progress into a job, on the job, and onto the next job.
What City & Guilds does is about more than skills, qualifications and jobs. Backed by a Royal Charter, they exist to make sure that people can contribute to successful businesses and economies. City & Guilds does this by working with education providers, companies and governments in over 80 countries. Their qualifications are internationally recognised.
The City & Guilds of London Institute (the City & Guilds Group) is a Royal Chartered Institute (RC117) and a registered charity (no.312832). The Royal Charter was granted by Queen Victoria in 1900. The organisation’s President is Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal, who took over this role from His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh, in 2011.
